Namibia has a rich legacy of pop music, which Aino Moongo, Thorsten Schütte and Baby Doeseb, founders of the “Stolen Moments, Namibian Music History Untold” research group aim to preserve for future generations. Many of the sound recordings were made prior to Namibian independence, making them difficult to track down and in danger of disappearing altogether. To prevent this, the Federal Foreign Office supported the Stolen-Moments project as part of its cultural preservation program.

Content of the project was the procurement of technical equipment for the digitization and data transfer of a music database, the training of sound engineers by a German expert and the subsequent financing of the digitization of numerous sound recordings. The project thus contributes to the preservation of Namibia's rich cultural heritage.
