Germany supports the upgrading of key water infrastructure in Namibia
In order to mark the 25th anniversary of the town twinning between Windhoek and Berlin, the President of the Berlin House of Representatives, Cornelia Seibeld, is visiting the Namibian capital with a delegation. At the invitation of President Seibeld, a reception was held at the residence of the German Ambassador in Windhoek.
The President of the Berlin House of Representatives, Cornelia Seibeld comments her visit:
“Since 6 July 2000 - the day on which the city partnership between Windhoek and Berlin had been agreed upon - we have been finding our way to each other, determined to learn from each other and to support each other. The aim of our trip is to get to know the people in Windhoek better and to better understand the city and its structures. It is impressive to see how through shared projects of the city partnership, for example for local traders, the concrete benefits of this partnership have been made visible.
During their visit, the delegation from Berlin visited the Capture Project Semi Mall, the Bokamoso Entrepreneurial Center, the Riverheights Football Academy, the Independence Memorial Museum and the Creative Industry Institute Africa (CIIA). President Seibeld also laid a wreath at the Genocide Memorial in memory of the victims of the genocide of the Herero and Nama peoples committed by German colonial troops.
