If you apply for a German passport the first time or your last passport expired more than 15 years ago, please take note of the following information.
German minors need their own travelling document. It is not possible anymore to register children in a parent's passport.
In addition to a German passport, German citizens can apply for a identity card. However, it is not mandatory to have an ID.
Also for children a German ID can be issued. Still, it is not mandatory.
If you leave Germany and move abroad, you have to deregister at the competent registration authority.
If you left Germany to permanently live in Namibia, we recommend to have your German residential address removed from your passport.
