Building on the Skilled Immigration Act that took effect on 1 March 2020, the Act on the Further Development of Skilled Immigration will now expand the opportunities for skilled workers from non-EU states to come to Germany in order to take up employment, in many cases also simplifying visa applications.

The new law has several parts. Its provisions have been entering into force gradually since November 2023. Here is an initial overview of the changes: www.make-it-in-germany.com

Before you apply for a visa as a skilled worker, you must have your qualifications officially recognised. This process is carried out by specific bodies within Germany. Information can be found at www.anerkennung-in-deutschland.de. Skilled workers who are interested in applying for a visa should begin this process in good time.
